Bach, J. S.: Complete Lute Works for Guitar

This sheet music is based on The “New Bach Edition” (Bärenreiter) Series V, Volume 10 (hereinafter "original score"). We are aiming to reproduce the original score, but the original score is written on a grand staff, and the tonality is not suitable for playing the guitar.

- Overall moved one octave higher (except for BWV998's Double, described later).
- Some movements were transposed to the most common key for guitar playing.

We performed these two operations.

Other than these operations, the original score's voicing, symbols such as slurs and ties, presence or absence of rest display, title notation (however, only the tonality display is after transposition), etc. were faithfully reproduced. This score is not the original version in the sense that it transposes the original score. In addition, various operations must be performed for actual performance, and in that sense, it is not a practical version. This score is positioned between the original version and the practical version. Readers can create their own practical version by experimenting with various possibilities such as inversion of chords and changes in note value, as well as fingering. There are infinite solutions, but we hope you will find your own solution. Also, even if you use the practical version that has already been published, by comparing it with this score, you can know how the original score is and how the editor has devised it. would be very beneficial.
