Tiki masks have a long, rich history in Polynesian culture. The expressive carvings and paintings served as inspiration for the GEWA Tiki ukuleles. We have three different motifs, which we have decorated concert sized ukuleles from the GEWA Kalea series with.
The instruments are made of sapele wood with black walnut for the fingerboard and bridge. The saddle and bridge inlay are made of bone, which allows for optimal vibration and transmission. Except for the Tiki top decoration, the ukuleles are left as natural as possible and are only sealed with a thin, open-pored silk matt varnish. This allows the wood to retain an almost natural feel, allowing it to vibrate more freely compared with high-gloss lacquered instruments.
All instruments are delivered with a padded gig bag. The Tiki design ukuleles will please the casual player, as well as every professional musician.
