Mendelssohn’s Songs without Words, in particular, have always enjoyed immense popularity and were part of the standard repertoire in the musical salons during Mendelssohn’s time. This volume also contains pieces from Kinderstücke op. 72, which Mendelssohn wrote for the children of the Benecke family during a summer stay in London.

The edition contains 14 shorter piano pieces, mostly at a moderate level of difficulty, including the easiest of the Lieder ohne Worte, as well as Charakterstücke and Kinderstücke and several lesser-known works.
