Willscher, Andreas: Variationen über 13 volkstümliche Weihnachtslieder für Orgel solo

After his popular Christmas album (BU 2252) with arrangements of sacred Christmas carols, Andreas Willscher has now also taken on the folk Christmas songs that are always gladly sung not only in family circles.

He subjects them to ever-new melodic, rhythmic and harmonic metamorphoses in a surprising, witty and characteristically tongue-in-cheek manner.

An "O Tannenbaum" bolero, "Ihr Kinderlein kommet" as a carillon and a not quite so "Still, still, still" trumpet tune will quickly put players and listeners in the Christmas mood. Since all cycles are composed manualiter, they can also be played on other keyboard instruments.
